Exodus 11 - 12:20 - Job 29 - Luke 14 - 1 Corinthians 15

Exodus 11- 12:20
- The Final Plague: DEATH OF FIRSTBORN
- God told Moses that Pharaoh would let the people go after this plague.
- Moses instructed the Israelites to ask neighbors for jewelry, for Moses was now great in all the people's sight.
- This final plague would kill all of the first born in Egypt, man and animal.
- Pharaoh's heart was still hardened when Moses told him of the last plague.
- How did Moses communicate this information to Pharaoh since Moses was banned from Pharaoh's precense?
- For the Passover, the people were to take a goat or lamb without blemishand kill it on the 14th day of the month.
- The Passover would mark the Israelites first month of their year.
- Why did they use goats for this and not strictly lambs?
- What did the people do with their lamb from the 10th until the 14th?
- They had to put some of the lamb's blood on their doorposts, so that God would passover their house when he came through to kill the first born.
- Why did they have to have shoes on, hold a staff, and eat so quickly?
- They were also to have the Feast of Unleavened Bread for 7 days following Passover. They are to do no work on those days except prepare food for themselves. This was so future generation would remember God bringing the people out of Egypt.
- 1st month: day 14 - 21
- If anyone eats anything with leaven during this time, even a traveler, they should be cut off from the people.

Job 29
- Job begins to remininse and wish for the ties when God was with him.
- Why doesn't Job feel like he can still serve in the same ways as he used to?
- Why won't people listen to Job anymore?
- Job used to be respected, have great abundance and be like a chief in the area and Job longs for those times.

Luke 14-
- Jesus asked the Pharisees if it was unlawful to heal on the Sabbath. They didn't reply, so Jesus healed the man.
- Jesus tells a parable to address the fact that the Pharisees always sit at the best places.
- Jesus tells them to sit at a low place so they may be moved up rather than at a place to high and have to be moved down. If we humble ourselves we'll be exalted.
- Does Jesus really mean not to invite rich friends or is this just hyperbole?
- Jesus tells a parable about heaven as a great banquet, and when those invited make up excuses for not coming, the man sends his servant to invite the poor from the street.
- We need to count the costs of following Jesus before commiting.
- What does Jesus mean by hating people around us?
- Salt cannot get back its saltiness once it's lost, so we need to hear what is being said by Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15
- Paul reminds the Corinthians of the Gospel, that Jesus came and died and was raised on the 3rd day.
- Who was Cephas and why is James listed apart from the 12 and who were the 12 since Judas hung himself after betraying Jesus?
- Jesus also appeared to 500 people at once and last He appeared to Paul, who at the time was persecuting the church.
- He reminds them that he is empowered by the grace of God and they have been changed and saved by that same grace.
- Paul addresses those who don't believe in the resurrection. He tells them that if Jesus wasn't raised from the dead then their faith is futile and their belief in Jesus is meaningless because they are still under the wieght of their sins.
- Adam brought death to mankind, Jesus brings life.
- God will destroy His enemies, last of which is death.
- Even Christ is under God's authority.
- Paul uses a quote from a popular play at the time which says, "Bad company ruins good morals."
- Paul addresses their question about what will happen to their bodies in heaven by comparing it to a seed from which the plant will die so that new life will be formed.
- When shall the dead be raised with the trumpet?
- The sting of death is sin but God has given us victory over sin.
- Paul reminds them to work in the Lord for that work is never in vain.
