Leviticus 5
- Things that are sin include:
1) Not speaking up if you know something that happened
2) Cannot touch anything that is dead (How about when you making food to eat?)
3) Swearing an oath good or bad (Don't other OT people swear oaths?
When he realizes his guilt he must confess his sin and then bring a female goat or sheep as a sin offering.
- Two turtledoves or two pigeons can aslo be used with 2.2 liters of fine flour
- The preiest offers a handful on the alter and keeps the rest.
- If anyone commits a breach of faith unintentionally he must bring a unblemished ram.
- Does the priest get a fifth of the ram or of the sheckel?
- What is the difference between unintentionally doing it and not knowing he did it?
- What is the atonement for commiting a sin on purpose?
Proverbs 21
- Man always seems right, but God weighs his heart.
- God loves righteousness and justice more than sacrifices
- Diligence = adundance
- A quarrelsome wife is a hard thing. (Stated twice in this chapter)
- The simple become wiser be correction.
- The Righteous One is capitalized so it is saying God brings them to ruin.
- A gift (giving) can overt anger
- Leaving good choices leads to death.
- The love of pleasure and wine lead to ruin.
- Righteousness and kindness = life, righteousness, and honor
- Holding your tongue keeps you out of trouble.
- The righteous man gives and doesn not hold back.
- Isn't it still good when a wicked man sacrifices to God thus keeping the commandments?
- The upright thinks about what he will say or do first.
- Nothing can stand against God (Not even wisdom or counsel) This was also talked about in Job.
Acts 3
- The 9th hour is the hour of prayer
- Peter and John were at the temple.
- Peter told the lame beggar he had no silver but to rise and walk in the name of Christ.
- The man's response was to leap and praise God! What a response!
- The people there were amazed because they knew this lame man.
- Why was the man clinging to Peter and John?
- Peter said it wasn't them who healed the man but God, whose servant Jesus they had asked Pilate to kill.
- Why didn't Peter say God's son Jesus?
- Peter tells the people that there faith in Jesus has healed this man.
- Peter tells the people to repent of what they had unknowingly done by killing Jesus (Leviticus 5)
- He told them Jesus would be with God until His return which the OT prophets talked about.
- Peter quote Moses who spoke about a powerful prophet who they should follow.
- Peter told them that Jesus fulfilled the words of the prophets to save the people of Abraham and that others would be saved through them.
Philippians 3
- Why does Paul start the 3rd chapter with finally?
- Paul warns them not to listen to others who follow the flesh referring to them as dogs.
- Paul says that if anyone should have confidence in the flesh it is him who followed all the Jewish laws so well.
- But Paul counts all these things as loss to knowing Christ.
- Pauls righteousness comes from Christ alone not the Law.
- Paul strives to be like Christ and have a resurrection from the dead.
- Paul knows he is not yet perfect and is straining to grow in Christ likeness
- Paul forgets the past and looks toward the future.
- His goal is to look toward Christ.
- Paul reminds them to remember the truth of what they have as they move into the future.
- Some have turned away from Christ and are glorying in their shame.
- We are waiting for a glorious body through Christ in heaven.
- All things are under Him.
- We are citizens of Christ and heaven
- How can those who follow Christ fall away?
