leviticus 11 - proverbs 27 – acts 9 – 1 thessalonians 4

Leviticus 11
- If God told Moses and the Jews which animals were unclean, how did Noah know which animals were clean to bring 7 pairs of?
- Clean - Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. Anything with fins and scales in the water, crickets, locusts, grasshoppers
- Unclean - Camel, Rock badger, the hare, and the pig, swarming things in the water,the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture, the kite, the falcon of any kind, every raven of any kind, the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind, the little owl, the cormorant, the short-eared owl, the barn owl, the tawny owl, the carrion vulture, the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat, insects, the mole rat, the mouse, the great lizard of any kind, 30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon, Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, any swarming thing that swarms on the ground.
- The people couldn't even touch these animals (pigs or others?)
- Why was ostrich forbidden?
- Why does it say insects have 4 feet?
- Is it wrong to touch a living camel? Does that make you unclean?
- Unclean animals in your house that touch food or pots, those things it touches are unclean.
- Water and planting seeds touched by an unclean animal are still clean, but if you touch them you are unclean.
- God calls the people to be holy because He Himself is holy.

Proverbs 27
- Do not boast about tomorrow when you don't know the future.
- Let someone else praise you, not yourself.
- Jealousy is worse than wrath or anger.
- An open rebuke is better than hidden love.
- The importance of true friends is listed thrice.
- Have good relationships with your neighbors.
- The wise do not carry on into danger.
- Why is loudly praising your neighbor bringing cursing?
- A quarrelsome wife adds difficulty (I'd say the same about a quarrelsome husband)
- People sharpen (strengthen) each other.
- The heart of a man reflects a man.
- A man's eyes are never satisfied (Is this talking about lust?)
- A man is tested by how people talk about him.
- Know the condition of those around you (your flock)
- Your flocks will supply you in tough times

Acts 9
- This section is about Saul's conversion to Paul and how Paul is healed.
(I had taken notes and posted this once, but for some reason this portion was not saved)

1 Thessalonians 4
- Paul urges the Thessalonians to continue growing in godliness as they've been doing.
- Sanctification = fleeing sexual immorality, controling your body, avoiding wronging your brother
- Paul lists ways to control your body.
- God has called us to holiness
- Any man who goes against these 3 things goes against God not man.
- The people in Macedonia are aware of their love for others.
- Paul urges them to live quietly and manage own affairs so that their a good example to outsiders.
- Paul turns his attention to those who have died.
- How can God bring those who have already died to Himself?
- The dead will be first to enter heaven.
- Paul encourages them to join together and know that they will be with their loved ones who have already passed away in heaven.
