Leviticus 3- proverbs 19 – acts 1 – philippians 1

I realized today that in my massing together of notes, that I totally skipped Philipiians. I will go back and do Philippians over the next few days instead of Colossians which I've already finished.

Leviticus 3
- This chapter is about peace offerings
- Who kills the peace offering, the one who brought it or Aaron?
- Did they only offer the fat covered entrails, kidneys, and liver as a sacrifice or the whole animal?
- Cows come from herds and sheep from flocks. This is the distinction made between the two animals.
- Why were the people not to eat the fat or blood? Did they have to cook their food well done?

Proverbs 19
- desire without knowledge is not good.
- Folly expresses waging against God.
- What does Solomon mean by people hate a poor man? Aren't we supposed to love and care for the poor?
- A false witness will not go unpunished is stated twice.
- It is good to overlook an offense and be slow to anger.
- A foolish son and a quarrelsome wife are not good.
- A prudent wife is from the Lord. (Yay!)
- Disciplining children give them hope in the Lord.
- Listen to advice
- Our plans need to be in line with God's plans in order to be fruitful
- When you stop listen to others, and you will stray from the Bible's teachings.

Acts 1
- This is John's second book to Theophilus
- Jesus stayed with the disciples for 40 days after the resurrection before He ascended.
- Jesus told them not to leave Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit.
- Jesus said it's not our time to know when He will return and form His kingdom.
- Jesus ascended on a cloud and two angels came and asked why they were still standing there.
- Jesus will return on the cloud when He returns.
- The disciples, Jesus family, and "the women" (120 people) were together praying.
- Peter recounted how Judas' betrayal, and field purchased with his blood money fulfilled the OT scriptures.
- Justus and Matthais had both been going with Jesus during His ministry.
- They cast lots and Matthais replaced Judas.
- What was the "difference" between being of the 12 and just an extra disciple?

Philippians 1
- This letter is from Paul AND Timothy
- Paul assures them that Jesus will complete the good work He started in them.
- They are Paul partners in His preaching of the Gospel.
- Paul prays that their knowledge of God would increase so that they'd be able to discern more.
- Righteousness comes with increased knowledge of Christ.
- Many know Christ and have increased faith because Paul has been imprisoned.
- Paul says some preach the gospel in love and others out of rivalry, but paul doesn't care so long as Christ is preached.
- Whether in life or death Paul wants to honor Christ
