Numbers 7 - Song of Solomon 7 – Romans 4 – Hebrews 5

Numbers 7
- The chiefs of Israel brought 6 carts and 12 oxen to the tabernacle and they were accepted.
- 2 wagons and 4 oxen went to sons of Gershon and 4 wagons and 8 oxen went to the sons of Merari
- Each day one of the 12 chiefs would bring their offering to the alter.
- The order of the chiefs was Nashon, Nethanel, Eliab, Elizur, Shelumiel, Eliasaph, Elishama, Gamaliel, Abidan, Ahiezer, Pagiel, and Ahira
- The gifts they gave were the same: one silver plate whose weight was 130 shekels, one silver basin of 70 shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering; one golden dish of 10 shekels, full of incense; one bull from the herd, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering; one male goat for a sin offering; and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old.
- Moses went in and a voice spoke to him from above the mercy seat on the ark between the 2 cherubim.

Song of Solomon 7
- He says her thighs are like a statue done by a master sculptor.
- He drinks wine from her navel.
- He compliments her by comparing different body parts to architechture works in various cities.
- He wants to climb her like a palm tree and lay hold of her fruit.
- She says she belongs to her beloved and his desire is for her.
- What is the word that can be translated villages or henna plants?
- The bride gives her love to her beloved in the vineyard where love has bloomed.

Romans 4
- Paul asks if Abraham was justified by works.
- He didn't work, but Abraham's faith was counted to him as righteousness.
- David had written that blessed is a man whom the Lord will not count his sins.
- Paul asks if the blessing is only for the circumcised but he points out the Abraham was counted righteous BEFORE circumcision was created.
- Circumcision was given as a seal to his righteousness.
- The circumcised also walk in the faith that Abraham showed.
- If faith counts as following the whole law, the promise would be null and void.
- The law brings wrath.
- What does it mean by "where there is no law there is no transgression?
- It depends of faith so that all may rest in grace not their own works.
- Abraham grew stronger in his faith as he got older and did not waver
- What about when he had a child with his servant instead of his wife?
- This could be talking about after the angel told him NOT to sacrifice Isaac.

Hebrews 5
- Every high priest is appointed to act on behalf of all men and atone for their sins.
- He can deal gently with others because he himself is beset with weaknesses.
- He has to offer sacrifices for his own sins as well.
- God appoints the high priests.
- God also appointed Christ to be the high priest.
- The OT also says you will be a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.
- The writer is writing for a group because he uses "we".
- He says the readers have become dull in their hearing.
- The writer says by now they should be teachers rather than having to be retaught the basics.
- That is why they do not understand righteousness.
- The mature are able to distinguish good from evil because they have constantly practiced discernment.

Numbers 6 - Song of Solomon 6 – Romans 3 – Hebrews 4

Numbers 6
- The vow of a Nazirite is someone who separates themselves for the Lord.
- A Nazirite may not drink or have anything from the vine, cut his hair, or go near a dead person (not even a dead family member)
- If someone dies near a Nazirite they must make atonement, shave their head, and start their period of separation over again.
- When his time of separation is over he must bring 3 lambs, and a basket with bread for an offering. His hair will also be burned up as an offering.
- The Nazirite can now partake of wine again.
- Why didn't God tell Aaron what to say to the people?
- Aaron tells that people thatGod bless you and keep you, He will be gracious and give them peace.

Song of Solomon 6
- The people are helping the girl find her beloved.
- He is in the garden among the lilies.
- Her eyes overwhelm him
- He again compliments her on having all her teeth.
- Why does he mention 60 queens, 80 concubines and virgins without number?
- Those other women call her blessed.
- Who was Ammi Nadib?
- What is the dance of Mahanaim?
- She is a Shulamite.

Romans 3
- Paul tells them that there IS an advantage of being a Jew because they are God's chosen people.
- Even if some sin God is still powerful and just.
- Some Jews say that by sinning God's goodness is shown.
- Paul says this is wrong thinking.
- Jews are under sin just like Gentiles.
- No one is rithteous or seeks God....not one.
- They do not fear God.
- The whole world is accountable to God and the law makes sure no one can boast.
- Works can justify no man.
- The Law bears witness to the righteousness of God but righteousness comes through Jesus.
- What does it mean that God "passed over sins"?
- God is just and the justifier through Christ.
- Therefore works aren't good enough, only faith.
- God is god of Jews and Gentiles and we seek to uphold the law because of this truth not to overthrow it and do whatever we want.

Hebrews 4
- The writer continues to say that we can still find rest.
- Those who believe will find rest.
- God says that they shall not enter his rest (those who turn away from Him)
- The writer tells them not to harden their hearts as they did in the OT.
- Not resting can lead to disobedience.
- No creature is hidden from God's sight and we all will give an account to Him.
- The writer calls Jesus a great high priest.
- Jesus can sympathize with our weakness becuase He was tempted in every way but didn't sin.
- The throne of grace should provide us with confidence in our times of need.

Numbers 5 - Song of Solomon 5 – Romans 2 – Hebrews 3

Numbers 5
- Leperous people were to be put outside of the camp.
- If anyone sins against another they shall pay back adding 1/5.
- If that person is kin, they shall make atonement before the priest.
- If a man becomes jealous, thinking his wife has been unfaithful he is to bring a grain offering without oil on it.
- This is a grain offering of jeoulousy and rememberance.
- The priest made the woman say an oath and then drink a water mixed with tabernacle soil drink (known as water of bitterness)and take an oath of the curse.
- If she has been unfaithful she will be cursed and her bowels will swell.
- What does it mean that "your thoighs will fall away"?
- If she has not been unfaithful then she shall bear children.

Song of Solomon 5
- Other encourage the man and wife to be together and "get drunk on love"
- The man came to the bride while she was sleeping.
- She was dripping as she opened the latch (not sure what this means)
- When she opened the dooor he was gone, so she went looking for him.
- The watchemn beat her and took her veil (Is this part a dream?)
- She says she can spot her beloved among 1,000 men.
- He has black hair and eyes like drinking doves.
- His body is like polished ivory
- Arms are like rods of gold.
- His legs like alabaster columns.
- His mouth is sweet
- He is altogether most desirable.

Romans 2
- Passing judgment on others condemns yourself.
- Do not be hypocritical
- God's patience is meant to lead to repentance.
- You are storing up wrath for yourself.
- Those who are self seeking will incur God's wrath.
- The evil Jew will be punished first and then the evil unrepentant Greek.
- God shows no partiality for Jews over Greeks.
- Those who sin without the law will be punished without the law but those who know the Law will be condemned by it.
- Is Paul saying that Gentiles who live well will NOT be judged because their unknowledge of the Law will excuse them?
- Paul is accusing Jews and believers from knowing and preaching the Truth to unbelievers while breaking those very same laws themselves.
- Paul says that circumsision is a matter of the heart not a physical thing because a Gentile who believes is more circumsisized than a sinful Jew.

Hebrews 3
- The writer appeals for the reader to consider Jesus who was faithful to God like Moses.
- The writer says Jesus has more glory because He built the "house" that Moses lived in.
- Moses was faithful as God's servant while Christ is faithful as God's son.
- The writer quotes God from the OT labeling it the Holy Spirit talking as God was talking to the constantly rebelling Israelites for 40 years in the wilderness.
- Need to be careful not to let unbelief and evilness lead us astray.
- Exhort one another every day ("as long as it is called today")
- The eveil Israelites were not allowed to enter because of their sinfulness, just like the people being addressed will not enter into God's presence if they fall away in their own sins.

Numbers 4 - Song of Solomon 4 – Romans 1 – Hebrews 2

Numbers 4
- Kohath was one of Levi's sons
- Those 30-50 are to watch over the "holy things"
- They shall put blue goatskis over the holy things
- The sons of Kohath with the holy things will follow Aaron and the sanctuary when they set out.
- How do they carry these things but not touch them?
- Eleazar,son of Aaron will be in charge of the oil and fragrance.
- The sons of Gershon shall carry poles and curtains around the tabernacle.
- The sons of Merari will carry the poles, pegs, pillars and bases of The Tent of Meeting
- There were 2,757 Kohahites
- There were 2,630 Gershonites.
- There were 3,200 Merarites.
- The total number of men bearing the burden of carrying all of the holy things and tents was 8,580.

Song of Solomon 4
- He is commenting his bride by comparing her to things he sees and admires in nature.
- He comments that she has all of her teeth (they all are paired)
- He longs to go to her all day long.
- He says she has no flaws.
- One look from her captivates him.
- Her lipd drip honey - kisses are sweet
- He likes the way she smells also.
- She responds simply by saying let him come to her garden.

Romans 1
- Paul starts off by introducing himself and reminding the Roamsn that he was called by God's Son who was descended from David.
- Paul longs to go to Rome to strengthen them.
- The righteous live by faith.
- The wrath of God is against all unrighteousness.
- God's invisible attributes are eternal power, divine nature
- Everyone can see God in His creation so no one has an excuse not to believe.
- Even those who knew God refused to give thanks to Him.
- God gave them over to their lusts to worship the created NOT the Creator.
- One of these lusts was homosexual relations.
- Other lusts were: "They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless"
- They do these evils and promote them even though they know the penalty for these sins

Hebrews 2
- If you don't pay attention to your faith you will drift away.
- The writer says that if angels proclaimed it, people preach it, and God did miracles through the Holy Spirit for it, how can we deny the work of salvation?
- Why does God care about man when we are lower than angels?
- Everything is subject to HIm and He made Himself low in Jesus.
- The sanctifier and the sanctified are all from one source.
- He suffered for us.
- The writer of Hebrews quotes many verses in his letter.
- Devil has power of death.
- Christ did all things as a man to destroy the power of death.
- Christ died for man not for angels.
- Because He was tempted He can help those who are tempted.

Numbers 3 - Song of Solomon 3 – acts 28 – Hebrews 1

Numbers 3
- Aaron's sons: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar
- Nadab and Abuhu were killed because of unauthorized fire.
- God said he is taking the Levites as his own instead of the firstborn of everyone.
- Clans of sons of Levi
- Clan of Gershon - His sons were Libni and Shimei 7,500 - they stayed with Eliasaph on the west.
- Clan of Kohath - His sons were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, Uzziel - 8,600 - they stayed on the south side with Elizaphan guarding the sanctuary.
- Clan of Merari - His sons wereMahli and Mushi - 6,200 - stayed with Zuriel on the north sidethey were to take care of pillars, bases, and pegs.
- Moses and Aron stayed on the east side to prtect the people.
- The firstborn males numbered 22,273
- The were 273 more firstborn than there were Levites, so those 273 had to redeem themselves by paying 5 shekels.
- Moses collected 1,375 shekels

Song of Solomon 3
- His kisses are better than wine.
- The "others" seem to love her too.
- Again what does the pasturing of the flock mean? Does she just want to know where to find him?
- He tells her to follow his path and he likes that she wears jewelry.
- The "others" are going to make her jewelry of gold.
- She talks about what she wants to do when they are close.
- They both delight in each others beauty.
- Why does she mention the couch color?

Acts 28
- Paul crash landed on Malta
- The natives were very kind and paul was bit by a viper that was in the burning wood.
- He suffered no ill effects.
- Paul healed Publisus' father and then everyone brought their sick to be healed.
- They gave Paul lots of supplies for the rest of his trip.
- They got to Rome 3 months later and Paul stayed in a guarded house by himself.
- Paul talked with Roman Jews and they said they heard nothing bad against Paul but they were curious about the Christianity sect.
- Some belived and others didn't and Paul remembered Isaiah's words when he said that they will hear but not understand.
- He lived there for 2 years at his own expense.

Hebrews 1
- Unknown author
- says that God used to speak by prophets now has spoken through His Son/
- The author says God never appointed angels to be worshipped.
- God has annoited and lifted up His Son to be praised.
- The Lord laid the foundations of the earth and will be there in the last days.
- Angels do not sit at God's right hand either.
- Angels were created as messengers and servants for those who may receive salvation.

Numbers 2 - Song of Solomon 2 – acts 27 – Philemon 1

Numbers 2
- What does it mean to camp by your own standards?
- Leaders of each tribe on the east side of camp
1) Camp of Judah - Nahshon
2) Camp of Issachar - Nethanel
3) Camp of Zebulun - Eliab
- There were 186,400 living on the East Side of camp and always marched out first.

- Leaders on the south side of camp
1) Camp of Reuben - Elizur
2) Camp of Simeon - Shelumiel
3) Camp of Gad - Eliasaph
- 151,450 living on south side of camp and they always set out 2nd.

- The camp of the Levites would always set out after south side camps.

- Leaders on the west side of camp
1) Camp of Ephraim - Elishama
2) Camp of Manasseh - Gamaliel
3) Camp of Benjamin - Abidan
- 108,100 living on west side of camp

- Leaders of the north side camps
1) Camp of Dan - Ahiezer
2) Camp of Asher - Pagiel
3) Camp of Naphtali - Ahira
- 157,600 living on the North side and always set out last

-603,550 people total (not including Levites)

- Why is Joseph's tribe not listed but Gad and Mannassah are even though they were not of the originally 12 tribes of Israel?

Song of Solomon 2
- She stands out to him among all the other women.
- His banner over her is love
- She is love sick and only wants him.
- There is an exclamation mark where she talks about him enbracing her.
- She tells the other women not to stir up love before the proper time.
- He comes to her and tells her to come with him.
- She longs to see his face and hear his voice.
- What are the "little foxes" that are ruining their time?
- What does she want when she tells him to pasture his flock and run to the mountains?

Acts 27
- Julius was the centurion in charge of delivering paul and he treated Paul kindly.
- It was late in the season past the Day of Atonement and the winds were not favorable for sailing to Italy.
- Paul told them not to sail any further, but the pilot decided to winter over on Crete.
- A severe storm struck for many days and they began throwing supplies overboard to save the ship.
- Paul told them that an angel had told him the ship would be lost but no one would die.
- It was the 14th night crossing the Adriatic Sea.
- When they got near land some men tried to talk the life boat, but paul said only those who stayed on the ship would live so they cut the ropes to the boats.
- In the midst of all this Paul broke bread, gave thanks to God, and had the men eat.
- There were 276 men on the boat.
- The soldiers wanted to kill the prisoners before leaving the ship but the centurion had their lives (Paul's included) spared and everyone made it to shore safely.

Philemon 1
- Timothy and Paul greet Philemon who hold church in his house.
- Paul thanks the Lord for Philemon and for his witness to others and encouragement to the saints
- Paul says he could demand Philemon but he is appealing to him on behalf of Onesimus.
- Paul was going to keep him with himself, but didn't want to do that without Philemon's approval.
- Paul is saying that Onesimus is now not a slave but a brother in Christ now he is useful to God.
- Paul asks Philemon to receive back Onesimus as he would receive Paul himself.
- Paul says if Onesimus owes Philemon anything to charge it to Paul's account.
- Why does Paul seem to lay a guilt trip on Philemon for leading him to the gospel?
- Paul wrote this letter himself.
- Paul also says to prepare a guest room for him as he is praying to visit soon.
- Epaphras, Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke also sends greetings to Philemon.
- Paul seems to ask him to free Onesimus by making him feel guilty. Is this right to do?

Numbers 1 - Song of Solomon 1 – acts 26 – Titus 3

Numbers 1
- God told Moses to take a census of all men over 20 who could go to battle.
- Took place on first day of second month
- Registered by clan and father's house.
- Tribe of Reuben = 46,500
- Tribe of Simeon = 59,300
- Tribe of Gad = 45,650
- Tribe of Judah = 74,600
- Tribe of Issachar = 54,400
- Tribe of Zebulun = 57,400
- Tribe of Joseph = 40,500
- Tribe of Manassah = 32,200
- Tribe of Benjamin = 35,400
- Tribe of Dan = 62,700
- Tribe of Asher = 41,500
- Tribe of Naphtali = 53,400
- Total men over 20 = 603,550
- The Levites were not listed in this census because they were to manage the tabernacle not go to war.
- The Levites were to camp between the tabernacle and the other camps of the people.

Song of Solomon
- It is broken into speaking parts similar to a play
- She speaks of longing to kiss him
- The kisses are compared to wine.
- She is very dark (Is she tan or African?)
- It sounds like she is very tan because her brothers made her work in the fields.
- What is she referring to when she's talking about flocks?
- Solomon is complementing his bride and telling her to come close.
- The sexual metaphors continue to show they want to be close.
- Solomon compares her eyes to doves.
- Why does she refer to the color of their couch?

Acts 26
- Paul is happy to speak before King Agrippa who knows Jews laws and customs.
- Paul said he was being charged for saying God raise Jesus from the dead. He asks why this ability of God would surprise them.
- He then says how he persecuted the Christians.
- What does "kick against the goads" mean?
- Paul said Jesus told him to go preach to the Gentiles.
- Paul says he is on trial for preaching the very things Moses said would happen.
- Festus thought Paul was out of his mind.
- Agrippa was surprised Paul would try to convert him to be a Christian.
- Paul could have been set free if he didn't appeal to Caesar.

Titus 3
- Be submissive to rulers.
- Speak evil of no one and avoid quarreling
- Show perfect courtesy to all people.
- Paul reminds Titus of what we used to be before conversion.
- We are saved by Christ's mercy, not our own works.
- We have received regeneration and cleansing by Holy Spirit.
- By this we are heirs of eternal life.
- Do good works as an overflow of what you have received.
- Avoid foolish controversies and debates.
- Warn a person stirring people up once, then twice, then have nothing to do with them.
- Paul is sending Artemas or Tychicus to Titus and wants Titus to come visit him in Nicopolis where he is spending the winter.
- Titus is to send Zenus and Apollos out.

leviticus 27 - Ecclesiastes 12 – acts 25 – Titus 2

Leviticus 27
- The valuation of a 20 - 60 year old male is 50 shekels
- The valuation of a female is 30 shekels
- Male 5 - 20 the valuation is 20 shekels, female 10 shekels
- Male 0 - 5 is worth 5 shekels and a female is worth 3 shekels
- Male over sixty is 15 shekels and female is 10 shekels
- How and why would someone vow an unclean animal?
- If someone wants to redeem their house or animal they have to add a fifth to the value.
- If a man wanted to dedicate his field he has to calculate the value of it until the next jubilee, when he can redeem it.
- Nothing devoted to the Lord shall be sold or redeemed. This is a crime punishable by death.
- Every 10th animal born to a man shall be holy to the Lord whether good or bad.
- Doesn't God usually onlt want the animals "without blemish"?

Ecclesiastes 12
- Solomon tells the young people to thank God for what they have when they're young.
- Solomon is dreading death when his spirit goes back to its Maker.
- When in his life did Solomon write the proverbs and why is this book so dreary?
- Man's ultimate duty is to fear God and keep His commands.
- Solomon warns that God will judge every deed done whether good or evil.

Acts 25
- The Jews still wanted to kill Paul 3 years later
- Festus told them to go to Caesarea with him and see if there was anything to accuse Paul of.
- Paul told Festus that he had done nothing wrong and if he had he did not fear death.
- Paul appealed to Caesar
- King Agrippa stopped by and Festus told him all that was taking place with Paul. His dispute with the Jews was whether or not Jesus was alive. Agrippa wanted to hear from Paul.
- Festus wanted Agrippa to question Paul so that he had some thing against Paul before sending him to Caesar.

Titus 2
- Paul tells Titus to teach sound doctrine
- Older men should be self controled, faithful, loving, and steadfast.
- Older women are not to slander, but be reverant, train young women, love husbands and children, self controlled, kind, submissive to husband which reflects Christ to others.
- Younger men should be self controlled.
- Titus is to live by example of good works, integrity, sound blameless speech.
- By watching what you say noone will have anything wrong to accuse you of which is to their shame.
- Slaves are to listen to their masters, not stealing, well pleasing, not arguementative, showing good faith as to please the Lord.
- Grace of God helps us battle ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self controlled godly lives.
- We are waiting on the hope of Christ's return.
- Christians should be zealous for good works.
- Paul tells Titus to declare these things and let noone disagree with you.
- Seld Control is mentioned 4 times for every age and gender group.

leviticus 26 - Ecclesiastes 11 – acts 24 – 2 Timothy 5

Leviticus 26
- The people shall not make idols to bow down to.
- God promises good growing seasons, peace in the lands, success in battles, no wild beasts will attack them, and they shall have many children if they keep their covenants with God.
- Then God lists the punishments for not obey His commands which include: panic, disease, heart ache, the land will not grow crops, and enemies conquering them.
- If they still won't listen after this God will discipline them 7 fold.
- God says that He WILL break their pride.
- God himself will strike them down in such a way that their enemies will be appalled at what happens to them if they still will not obey.
- If they do not let the land rest during times of Sabbath God will strike them down so that the land will rest.
- If the people humbly turn from their sins, God will remember His covenant with them.
- The people will have to make amends for the sins they have commited.
- God will never wipe them out totally because He wants to be their God.

Ecclesiastes 11
- Solomon seems to say be generous today because tomorrow is a mystery.
- God is as mysterious as how life comes into a child in the womb.
- Solomon says to rejoice in the days you have to see all that God has created because death is for eternity which he describes as vanity.
- Solomon tells the youth to be joyful and enjoy life but to always remember God will judge them for what they do.

Acts 24
- The Jews came down to accuse Paul after 5 days and Tertullus began to accuse Paul.
- Paul was accused of starting riot with a sect called the Nazarenes.
- Paul says that he didn't stir up anyone but also believes what the Jews do about the Law and about the resurrection.
- Paul said the Jews from Asia had accused him.
- The only "wrong" that he may have done in the temple was to say he was being accused because of the Resurrection.
- Felix knew about "the Way" and had Paul kept under guard but he had some freedoms.
- Felix and his wife often summoned Paul to speak with him and Felix hoped for a bribe.
- After 2 years Porcius Festus replaced Felix and kept paul in custody to make the Jews happy.

Titus 1
- Paul gives his greetings to Titus and reminds Titus of his calling to preach the gospel.
- Paul calls Titus his "true child in the faith"
- Paul left Titus in Crete to appoint elders and build the faith there.
- Elders should be above reproach, have one wife, and children who obey.
- Overseers (bishops)should must also be above reproach, not quick to anger, not drunk, or greedy but they must be hospitable, disciplined, and self controlled. He must also know the Word and be able to apply it to different situations.
- Paul warns Titus against empty talkers and deceivers.
- A Ctretan prophet once called his own people lazy, liars, and evil beasts which Paul says is true.
- Paul tells Titus to rebuke them sharply so that they may be of sound faith.
- Some people want to leave the Truth and follow Jewish laws and myths.
- People should not say they know God but do the opposite in their actions.
- This is detestable.

leviticus 25 - Ecclesiastes 10 – acts 23 – 2 Timothy 4

Leviticus 25
- On top of the regular Sunday day of rest, the Israelites were commanded to count the 7th year as a Sabbath where in they didn't prune or grow anything, letting the land rest.
- Why does it say that you shall not harvest food, but that the land shall provide food for you? Should you eat what grows or not?
- Every 49 years there shall be a year of jubilee on the 10th day of the 7th month The 50th year isa year of rest and celebration
- Everyone was to return to their property.
God says that they shall harvest enough the 6th year to last them 3 years, so they should trust Him.
- In the Year of Jubilee all sold property shall be returned to its original owner.
- Weren't these people nomadic, so wouldn't their land change?
- House sold in the city can be reclaimed for a year and won't be given back in the Year of Jubilee but all house outside the wall shall be returned to original owner.
- They were called to house and care for the poor among them.
- Poor people who sold themselves into slavery shall be treated well and gain their freedom in the Year of Jubilee.
- The Jews were not allowed to make slaves of their brothers, but slavery of other people was fine.
- God repeatedly follows up his rules with, " I am the Lord your God."

Ecclesiastes 10
- A little folly outweighs wisdom
- Calmness lays great offenses to rest.
- There are many dangers in many jobs.
- Wisdom helps one succeed.
- Many words = foolishness
- Why does Solomon say money answers everything?
- Solomon warns against having or saying evil things about the ruler.

Acts 23

2 Timothy 4
- Paul tells Timothy to preach the Word and to reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
- People will seek out easier, more pleasing forms of religion.
- Paul tells Timothy to preach the Truth faithfully and endure suffering.
- Paul is saying his time is coming to a close but that he has run the good race.
- Paul is looking forward to his reward in heaven and rejoices also about the rewards of ALL who have believed in Christ.
- Luke is the only one with Paul.
- He tells Timothy to bring Mark with him on his visit.
- Paul asks for some of his belongings to be brought especially the parchments.
- Alexander the coppersmith did Paul wrong and he warns Timothy about interacting with him.
- Paul says that everyone abandoned him except God, but he doesn't hold it against them.
- Paul is grateful that God has strengthened him through every trial.
- How can all those people send Timothy greetings if only Luke is with him?

leviticus 24 - Ecclesiastes 9 – acts 22 – 2 Timothy 3

Leviticus 24
- Aaron was to make sure the golden lamps were always burning with pure olive oil
- Each Sabbath day Aaron was to put 12 loaves of bread in two piles in the temple and put frankensence on them as a food offering to the Lord.
- There was a half Jewish/ half Egyptian boy who got into a fight and cursed using "the Name" in vane
- They put him in jail until God told them what to do
- God said he should be stoned as should any one else, native or sojourner
- Anyone who takes a human life shall be put to death
- What did you have to do if you accidentally killed someone's animal?
- Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth.
- Why did they wait to stone him until after gave the eye for an eye command which talked about murder not blasphemy?

Ecclesiastes 9
- Solomon struggles with the fact that the same end comes to the wicked and the just.
(He is forgetting about going to heaven after death verses hell)
- What does Solomon mean that God has already approved of what you do?
- Solomon tells us to enjoy life with our wife and our work because they won't be with us in Sheol.
- Wisdom is better than weapons
- Solomon reflects on a poor man from a little city who saved the city from a might army. This man was quickly forgotten but his example of the power of wisdom stuck with Solomon.
- One sinner can destroy much good.

Acts 22
- Paul begins addressing the mob who just stoned him in Hebrew.
- Paul reminds them of his past persecuting the Way
- Paul reminds them how Jesus blinded him on the road to Damascus and Ananias restored his sight and told him to go be baptized and wash away his sins.
- Paul said that after his conversion God told him to go to the Gentiles because the Jews wouldn't accept what paul would say to them.
- What did Paul mean that he bought his citizenship for a large sum and was born into it as well?
- They tribune was going to flog Paul until he asked if it was lawful to flog an uncondemned Roman citizen.
- The next day the Council sent for Paul to find out the real reason the Jews were so mad at him.

2 Timothy 3
- Paul lists many of the sins which will come out in the last days some of which include lovers of self, unholy, ungrateful, lovers of pleasure and not of God, having the appearance of godliness but denying its power.
- There are those who capture the weak and will never find the Truth themselves.
- Paul makes an OT comparision with "Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith"
- Paul remind Timothy of all the trials he himself had endured which God had protected him in amny of which Timothy witnessed.
- Godly people will be persecutued and the wicked will go from bad to worse.
- Paul points Timothy back to the Truth of God's Word and reminds Him also that all scripture is God breathed.
- God's word is to be used for "teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, and equipping others for every good work"

leviticus 23 - Ecclesiastes 8 – acts 21 – 2 Timothy 2

Leviticus 23
- This section is about the Lord's appointed feasts.
- Six days of work and one day of rest dedicated to the Lord.
- First month, 14th day - Passover
- Next day is Feast of Unleaven Bread (lasts 7 days)Ends in a wave offerings
- 50 days after the 7th Sabbath, present a wave offering and a sin offering.
- God reminds the people not to harvest all of their crops but to leave some crops around the edges for the poor.
- Feast of Trumpets - First day of 7th month (people shall rest and give a food offering)
- Day of Atonement - 10th day of the 7th month
- The "tenth day" is from evening on the 9th day to evening on the tenth day.
- The people shall do no work on these days. If they do they shall be cut off from the people.
- Feast of Booths - For seven days, starting on the 15th day of the 7th month.
- On the 8th day present a food offering.
- Takes place right after the harvest has been completed.
- What do the "booths" look like that they people were supposed to stay in for 7 days?

Ecclesiastes 8
- Solomon says keep oaths to the king because you are under God's leadership.
- Those who fear God will do well.
- Even when evil ways help people "prosper", Solomon reflects upon their end.
- Solomon commends joy, that we enjoy what we eat, drink, and do.
- Man cannot know, but only see some of the work of God.

Acts 21
- There were many disciples who in the Spirit were telling Paul NOT to go.
- Why didn't Paul respond to the words of the Spirit?
- The other disciples had wives and children.
- Philip has 4 unmarried daughters who could prophesy.
- Agabus said through the Holy Spirit that Paul would be bound in Jerusalem and given over to the Gentiles.
- Paul said he should be put to death there too. (He was aware of the cost)
- Was the Holy Spirit speaking against God's will? (v. 14)
- Why did James tell Paul to take 4 other men to the temple, shave their heads and follow Jewish customs?
- Jews from Asia stirred up the crowd who started to riot and beat Paul.
- The soldiers came to see what was happening.
- The tribune thought Paul was an Egyptian who caused riots there of 4000 men.
- Paul, bruised and beaten asked to address the crowd in Hebrew.

2 Timothy 2
- Paul is telling Timothy to be strengthened by the truth of the gospel and to share it with other trustworthy men.
- Paul reminds Timothy of Jesus, who he ultimately works for, not the people.
- Paul says he is in chains for the "elect"
- Timothy is to charge believers not to quarrel about words.
- Distorting gospel is like spreading gangrene.
- Did Hymenaeus and Philetus lose their faith? (They were saying the 2nd coming already happened and were confusing people)
- Paul tells Timothy to position himself to be used by God for honorable use.
- Flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness.
- Paul tells Timothy not to participate in quarrels over words 5 times in this passage.
- A Christian should correct evil with patience, love, and gentleness.
- Paul's hope is that by gentle correction people will turn from their sin and be saved.

leviticus 22 - Ecclesiastes 7 – acts 20 – 2 Timothy 1

Leviticus 22
- the priests cannot approach holy things while unclean.
- Why does an emission of semen (having sex?) cause a person to be unclean? Does this hold true even for married people?
- No guests or foreigners should eat of the holy things.
- A priest's widowed daughter may eat of holy portion.
- If anyone unintentionally eats holy food they shall pay back a 5th of its value.
- Did the Lord ever speak to Aaron directly or was it always through Moses?
- An offering animal shall be without blemish.
- Why can an animal with uneven legs be accepted as a freewill offering?
- A baby animal may not be sacrificed until it is 8 days old and cannot be killed on the same day as its mother.
- God reminds them that He brought them out of Egypt.

Ecclesiastes 7
- Having a good name (reputation) is better than riches.
- Why does Solomon list the "bad things" as good?
- A rebuke from the wise is far better than songs of fools.
- Why is the end of something better than the beginning?
- Do not ask and think that former days were better than the present.
- Wisdom preserves life.
- What God has made crooked we cannot make straight.
- Be equally happy whether joyful or in adversity because has given you both.
- How can you be too righteous or too wise?
- There is no one on earth who does good and never sins. (we all have sinned)
- Do not take to heart what others say about you.
- Solomon has tried in vain to understand everything, but he cannot do it.
- Solomon sees that God created man upright (good) but they have sought out many schemes.

Acts 20
- Paul was encouraging fellow believers and he went to Greece.
- He spent 3 months there, but left when Jews plotted against his life.
- Sopater, 2 Thessalonians (Aristarchus and Secundus), Gaius, Timothy and 2 Asians (Tychicus and Trophimus) went with Paul.
- They broke bread and Paul was preaching late into the night. Eutychus fell asleep in the window while listening and he died.
- Paul touched him and he was alive again.
- Paul bypassed Ephesus because he wanted to be back in Jerusalem by Pentecost.
- Paul sent Miletus to Ephesus to get the Ephesian elders to come talk to him.
- Paul is going to Jerusalem in the Spirit and he knows trial and affliction will meet him there.
- Paul wants nothing more than to finish his ministry well.
- Paul says he knows he will not see anyone there again and he spurs them on to watch over their individual people.
- Paul reminds them of his 3 years with them and how he served and didn't take anything from them.
- Jesus had said, "it is more blessed to give than to receive."
- He ended his time with them by praying.
- They were sad that they would never see Paul again.

2 Timothy 1
- How much time did Paul spend a day in prayer because he was constantly praying for everyone?
- Paul says that the faith was in Timothy's grandmother, then mom, and then in him.
- What about dwelling in Timothy's male family members?
- God gave them a spirit of power, love, and self-control.
- Paul spurs Timothy on to suffer for the grace of God that was given to them.
- Paul reminds Timothy of the truth and power of the gospel by saying that Christ abolished death and brought it into light.
- Which "that Day" is Paul referring to...his death or Christ's return?
- Paul tells Timothy to follow his example and guard the gospel preaching calling which God has "entrusted" to him.
- Phygelus and Hermogenes have fallen away in Asia.
- Why does Paul say that all those in Asia have fallen away? What about the church in Ephesus?
- Was Onesiphorus (a man who helped them in Ephesus) a Christian?
- Why does Paul pray that he will find mercy?
- Onesiphorus searched for Paul and found him in Rome which brought Paul apparent joy.

leviticus 21 - Ecclesiastes 6 – acts 19 – 1 Timothy 6

Leviticus 21
- The priests were not supposed to be near the dead except close family
- The priests were not suppose to marry.
- They were not to shave their heads or beards.
- They shouldn't marry a prostitute or a divorced woman.
- How could a priest have a daughter if he wasn't supposed to get married?
- Did the main priest have a pony tail?
- The main priest wasn't even to go near his dead family members nor tear his clothes.
- He shall take a young wife, but he is not to leave the sanctuary.
- What did he do when they traveled?
- Priests cannot serve if they have a blemish, lame, blind, hunchback, or dwarf, and itching disease or crushed testicles.
- He can eat of the holy bread but he cannot go into the alter.

Ecclesiastes 6
- Solomon says it's an evil that God gives a man wealth but he cannot enjoy it.
- Man toils to eat, but hunger is never satisfied.
- The more words the more vanity in a man.
- Solomon struggles with the fact that life is short and fleeting. He's not sure of what will come next.

Acts 19
- Appolos was in Corinth and Paul went to Ephesus.
- How could the people be believers, but not have the Holy Spirit?
- They said they had been baptized in John's name and when Paul baptized them in Jesus' name they received the Holy Spirit.
- He spoke for 2 years and 3 months there.
- Paul spoke to a focused group who wanted to hear the gospel after the first 3 months.
- People were being miracuously healed by Paul even by touching his handcercheif.
- The Jewish priests there tried to cast out demons in Jesus' name but the demons asked who they were and the demon possessed person beat them.
- This struck fear into the people and they sold their magic books and burned them and turned to Jesus.
- Paul wanted to go back to Jerusalem and then to Rome.
- Demetrius made idols of Artemus and he told the other idol makers that Paul's preachings would put them out of business.
- The people were stirred up and said, "Great is Artemus" and Paul's friends were brought before the people.
- Alexander, the ruler there, said to the crowd to bring charges against these men who had not said anything blasphemous about Artemus.
- Alexander prompted them to bring charges in the right way so they wouldn't be charged with rioting.
- The crowd dispersed.

1 Timothy 6
- Paul tells Timothy to tell slaves to serve their masters well, especially if they too are believers.
- Beware of those who in their own pride preach a different gospel than the truth.
- This produces quarreling and strife and controversy.
- There is great gain in godliness with contentment.
- Wanting to be rich puts a snare in your path and we cannot take anything with us when we die.
- Money is the root of all kinds of evil and leads many astray.
- It's interesting that Paul tell Timothy to fight the good fight with gentleness and love.
- Timothy is to keep the gospel free from reproach.
- Paul reminds him how great the eternal God is whom they both labor for.
- Timothy is to tell even the rich to put their hope in God and NOT in their riches.

leviticus 20 - Ecclesiastes 5 – acts 18 – 1 Timothy 5

Leviticus 20
- People should stone anyone who sacrifices their children to Molech.
- You shall not seek out mediums nor necromancers (talking with the dead through witchcraft)
- This portion talks about punishment of previously stated sexual sins.
- People will be stoned to death for the following: adultery with neighbor's wife,sex with animal, sex with same sex, sex with daughter-in-law, or sex with father's wife.
- If a man has sex with mother and daughter they shall be burned with fire.
- The following will make you cut off from your people: having sex with your sister, having sex while woman is menstruating, having sex with uncle's wife.
- God tells them to keep His laws and not follow the ways of the people already in the land who do evil.
- They shall also stone to death and mediums or necromancers.

Ecclesiastes 5
- Solomon says its better to draw near to God and listen than to sacrifice.
- Let your words to God be few because we are on earth and He is in heaven.
- Do not make any vow that you will not keep.
- Beware of many dreams and many words....God is to be feared.
- Solomon says not to be surprised when you see kings oppressing the poor. But they have someone above them.
- The love of money can never be satisfied.
- The laborer gets sweeter sleep than a gluttonous king.
- Losing money in a bad venture is a sad thing.
- You should find enjoyment in your job for as long as God gives you on this earth.
- God will give joy to those who labor well/

Acts 18
- Paul is leaving Athens and heading to Corinth.
- Historical note: Claudius had made all Jews leave Rome.
- Paul wanted to see Aquila and Priscilla.
- Paul worked with them as a tent maker and preached while he was there.
- Silas and Timothy arrived there just as Paul said he was going to preach the Word to the Gentiles since the Jews weren't listening.
- God gave Paul a vision telling Him not to fear because there were many God wanted to save in that city so Paul stayed 18 months.
- The Jews took Paul in front of the ruler of Corinth, Gallio, who said he would not judge over the Jewish laws and the differences in words they were using.
- Why did Paul cut his hair for a vow he made?
- What vow did Paul make?
- Paul went to Syria, but didn't stay long.
- Why did Paul leave Syria when they wanted to hear more about the Gospel?
- He then went to Ephesus, Caesarea, Antioch, and then through the region of Galatia strengthening already formed churches and disciples there.
- Apollos, was a man who had heard and believed in Jesus, but he only knew the baptism of John.
- Aquila and Priscilla explained the gospel more clearly to Apollos and he was an encouragement to many disciples and believers.

1 Timothy 5
- Is it always wrong to rebuke someone older than you?
- Is Paul saying all "true widows" (those without kids) should return and live with their parents?
- The true widow set her hopes and prayers on God.
- Not providing for family members is "worse than an unbeliever".
- What does Paul mean by "letting the widows enroll"? In what?
- Only women under 60 and not too young are to be enrolled.
- Younger widows are often idle, busybodies, and gossips.
- Why does Paul make it sound like a widow remarrying young is a bad thing?
- Paul encourages families to care for their widows and the church will care for "true widows".
- With preaching and teaching comes double honor.
- Is Paul saying preachers should make double the salary of others?
- What charge is Paul speaking about charging an elder?
- Paul tells them not to show partiality when they judge but do so fairly.
- Do not partake in sins of others.
- Why does Paul say to drink wine for your ailments?
- What were Timothy's ailments?
- Sin and good works - some bear fruit now, some bear fruit later.

leviticus 19 - Ecclesiastes 4 – acts 17 – 1 Timothy 4

Leviticus 19
- God calls us to be holy because He is holy.
- We are to revere our parents and keep the Sabbath
- Not to eat peace offering after third day.
- The people weren't supposed to harvest all of their crops, but should leave the outer edges for the poor.
- After each "love you neighbor as yourself command" God states He is the Lord their God.
- Do not steal from your neighbor or bear false witness.
- Do not hate or hold a grudge against your neighbor.
- The people weren't supposed to cross breed plants or animals.
- Why is committing adultery with an unfree slave not punishable by death?
- When plating new crops: 3 years unclean, 4th year it is the Lord's, after that people may eat it.
- You shouldn't tattoo yourself.
- God commands them to treat foreigners well.

Ecclesiastes 4
- Solomon points out that the oppressed and and the oppressor had no one to comfort them.
- Better a handful of quietness than 2 hands full of toil
- This portion builds upon the "more the merrier" logic.
- If there are two people there is help when you stumble but it is not good to be alone.
- Better to be poor and wise than a rich foolish king.

Acts 17
- Paul and Silas proclaimed the gospel in Thessolanica
- Many were converted, but the Jews caused a riot.
- Jason, a Christian there, paid money to calm the crowd.
- What did it mean that the Jews in Berea were more noble?
- The Jews in Thessolonica sent men to stir up crowd in Berea too.
- Paul left but Timothy and Silas stayed there.
- Paul preached in Athens and the people there didn't know how to take his gospel teachings.
- Paul knew they were religious because of the monuments they had in Athens.
- Paul quoted some of their own writers.
- Some mocked the gospel when they heard it while others wanted to hear it again. Among the new believers were Dionysius the Areopagite.

1 Timothy 4
- Some will depart faith and add new rules like what not to eat.
- Everything God created is good and should be prayed about with thanksgiving.
- Don't worry about silly myths or stories but strive for godliness.
- Holiness is to be sought above all things.
- Paul tells Timothy to not worry about being to young but be a Christian witness in all he says and does.
- Someone had prophesied that Timothy would be a great leader in the church.
- Keep a close watch on yourself in order to save yourself and others.
- Could Timothy lose his salvation?

leviticus 18 - Ecclesiastes 3 – acts 16 – 1 Timothy 3

Leviticus 18
- God tells the people to live by His rules, not by the rules of the people they live among.
- You shall not cover up naked relatatives (like Noah's children did)
- You shouldn't sleep with any close relatives nor sleep with a mother and her daughter or two sisters.
- Weren't men at that time supposed to take their brother's wives as their own wife if their brother died?
- Do not lie with a woman during her cycle.
- Do not give your children over to Molech.
- Do not lie with neighbor's wife.
- Do not lie with another man.
- Do not have sexual relations with an animal
- God says that other nations will be punished for doing these evil acts.
- God ends this command by reminding the people he is the Lord thier God.

Ecclesiastes 3
- There is a time for everything
- This list is an often quoted list of opposites.
- God puts eternity into the hearts of men.
- We cannot know all that God has done or will do.
- Be joyful and do good, work is a gift from God.
- We cannot add or take away from what God has planned. People's response to this is to fear God.
- Solomon sees wickedness in righteous and just places.
- He also find life meaningless because the best men come to the same fate, death, as beasts of the field.
- Solomon didn't know what would happen to men once they died.
- He said make the most of your work.

Acts 16
- Timothy joins Paul
- Why did Paul have Tomothy circumcised when he said earlier that it wasn't necessary for Christians to do?
- The church continued to grow and be strengthened.
- They went to Galatia
- Why would the spirit keep them from preaching the gospel in Asia?
- Paul had a vision and went immediately to preach in Macedonia.
- Phillipi was a Roman colony and the leading city in Macedonia.
- Lydia believed there and had Paul stay with her while there.
- A demon possessed slave girl kept saying that they were preaching the way of slavation and Paul got annoyed at rebuked the demon to come out, which it did.
- Why would Paul care if the demon girl was preaching the truth?
- The girl's owners had Paul thrown in jail and beaten.
- Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns at midnight.
- Where did these hymns come from?
- There was an earthquake and everyone's chains opened up.
- The jailer went to kill himself because he assumed the prisoners had escaped but Paul stopped him, preached the gospel to him, and he believed and was baptized.
- The magistrates decided to let them go peacefully anyway.
- Paul made the magistrates come and apologize to them because they were Roman citizens
- They went back to Lydia's to strengthen believers there and then they left.

1 Timothy 3
- Over seer is a noble task.a
- An overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive.
- He also should have been in the faith for awhile.
- He must be well thought of by outsiders.
- Deacons need to be dignified, not drunkards, not greedy nor dishonest.
- Deacons must be blameless as should be their wives.
- They should have one wife and manage their household well.
- Paul tells Timothy these things by letter because he is delayed in his own coming.
- Paul ends this chapter with a mini reminder of the gospel which reads: He was manifested in the flesh,vindicated by the Spirit,seen by angels,proclaimed among the nations,believed on in the world,taken up in glory.

leviticus 17 - Ecclesiastes 2 – acts 15 – 1 Timothy 2

Leviticus 17
- Did they have to bring every animal they killed to eat to the tent of meeting first?
- What were the goat demons that some were sacrificing to in the field?
- The last sentence of this sections says that anyone who sacrifices and doesn't bring it to the tent of meeting will be cut off from the rest of the people.
- If anyone, Jew or stranger visiting eats blood they shall be cut off from the people.
- The blood = life and is for making atonement for sins, not for eating.
- It says blood is life three times in one paragraph.
- So if you eat something that was killed by animals or dies on its own you shall bathe yourself and be unclean until evening.
- If you don't bathe you shall be cut off from the people and bear your iniquity.

Ecclesiastes 2
- The author tested himself with indulgence in pleasure.
- He got drunk, but still he found pleasure lacking.
- He created great buildings and gardens, bought many slaves and acquired great wealth.
- He had more than anyone else ever had before him, he remained wise, but kept nothing from himself.
- In the end when he considered all he had done it too was found to be meaningless and unfulfilling.
- Why would Solomon commit every sin and not use the wisdom he preached to his son in Proverbs? Isn't he a hypocrite?
- He saw more gain in wisdom than folly and in light than darkness, but he hates the fact that the wise will pass on just like the fool and both will be forgotten.
- He said it was a great evil to have to pass on everything he had worked so hard for for someone who did nothing and might be a foolish man as well.
- Solomon states than what is best is to enjoy your toil.
- Finding joy in your work is from God
- God gives knowledge and joy to the one who pleases him.
- Why are wisdom and knowledge separated?
- God gives to those who please him from those who are toiling.

Acts 15
- Some men started preaching that people could not be saved unless they were circumsised.
- Paul and Barnabas were sent to dispute this teaching.
- Other Christians were strengthened in their faith by stories of Gentiles being converted.
- Peter stood up and reminded them of Gentiles who had been receiving the Holy Spirit without even knowing the Law or being circumsised.
- He said the Law was an unneeded part of faith.
- james stood an quoted the OT and said that they shouldn't put the weight of the Law on the Gentile believers but simply tell them to abstain from idol worship, sexual immorality, and from eating this containing blood (why did he choose this one)?
- Judas and Sila were sent with paul and Barnabas
- They sent a letter to the Gentile believers sayin g to avoid these 3 things.
- The Gentile belivers rejoiced when they heard the letter.
- Why didn't Paul and Barnabas resolve their conflict over whether to take John or not?
-John had apparently left them during one of their trips
- Barnabas headed off with John and Paul with Silas
- The gospel still went forth even though they were in conflict.

1 Timothy 2
- Paul tells Timothy to pray for the people from the king to believers who can live peaceful, quiet lives.
- God desires that all people would come to saving faith in Him.
- There is one God and only one mediator, Jesus.
- Jesus was a ransom for all.
- Believers should pray and not quarrel.
- Women should dress modestly
- apparently braided hair and gold/pearls were not modest.
- Paul tells women to put on good works.

leviticus 16 - Ecclesiastes – acts 14 – 2 thessonians 3

Leviticus 16
- Why wasn't Aaaron to enter the tent of meeting after his sons died?
- He was supposed to bring a Bull and ram as a sin and burnt offering.
- He shall dress in special garb and get 2 goats and a ram from the people.
- Lots were cast over the 2 goats one was sacrificed to God the other given to Azazel
- Azazel was a place or a demon (Why would they offer a sacrifice to a demon?
- The second goat was sent to Azazel in the wilderness.
- He was to sacrifice the bull for himself and add sweet spices and sprinkle the blood 7 times on the mercy seat.
- Aaron made atonement for the people by sacrificing the bull and sprinkling its blood on the mercy seat make an unclean people clean.
- Aaron then confessed the people's iniquities, transgressions, and sins over the goat and sent it away into the wilderness.
- After leaving the Holy Place, Aaron was to take off his robes and leave them in the tent of meeting.
- On the 10th day of the 7th month all of the people are supposed to fast.
- The above atonement practices were to take place during this day every year and the people were to treat it like a holy Sabbath day.

Ecclesiastes 1
- Written by Solomon? (son of David, king of Jerusalem)
- He says that everything is vanity, pointless work under the sun.
- He mentions the winds blowing and the sea never getting full.
- Neither the eye nor the ear can be satisfied.
- There is nothing new. Everything has already been done and will be done so again.
- Why does he say that former people won't be remembered? King David still is remembered today.
- The writer sought wisdom as he ruled.
- He says that even gaining great wealth and knowledge is like "striving after the wind"
- Why does he say increasing in knowledge, increases sorrow?

Acts 14
- Paul and Barnabas enter Iconium and many believed.
- They preached there a long time and the Jews divided the people, and they had to flee before being stoned.
- At Lystra, Paul healed a man who was crippled since birth.
- They called them Zeus and Hermes because the people thought they were gods.
- Paul told them that they were mearly men, and not to sacrifice anything to them.
- Paul told the people that God had allowed Gentiles to walk in their own ways before, eventhough God was still providing for them with food and rain.
- The Jews from Antioch came and stirred up the crowd.
- They stoned Paul until they thought he was dead.
- Paul met with other disciples in that same region and went back even to the town where he was almost killed and preached the word and strengthened the believers there.
- Paul continued to preach throughout the region until returning to Antioch to spend time and rejoice with disciples about conversions among the Gentiles.

1 Timothy 1
- Paul calls Timothy his child in the faith.
- Paul told Timothy to stay in Ephesus and make sure no other doctrine was taught there.
- Do not get caught up in trivial things like genealogies
- Strive for love which builds the faith.
- The law is for the lawless not for the just, for unholy sinners.
- Paul thanks Jesus for calling Him to preach the gospel which he too was once ignorant of.
- Paul even says he is the foremost sinner (a humble view)
- Prophecies had been made about what Timothy would do for the faith.
- Why does Paul list two sinful men, Hymenaeus and Alexander?
- This seems to be a warning to Timothy so that he won't stumble.

leviticus 15 - proverbs 31 – acts 13 – 2 thessalonians 3

Leviticus 15
- A person with a discharge and anything they touch is unclean until evening.
- If the unclean person spits on someone else, they too are unclean until evening.
- He shall clean himself for 7 days and be deemed clean on the 8th day.
- Two doves, one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering
- Why is having sex a "unclean until evening" thing?
- Women are unclean for seven days during their menstrual cycle.
- If a woman bleeds a discharge not during her cycle she shall cleanse herself for 7 days and offer two doves and then be deemed clean.

Proverbs 31
- Written by King Lemuel
- He is questioning his sons actions.
- He tells his son not to give away his strength to women or to drinking.
- He tells his son to speak up for the poor and judge rightly.
- An excellent wife is a precious thing.
- She does her husband good and he has no worries.
- She is a hard worker
- She gets up early to get things done.
- She makes wise purchases on her own.
- She works into the night.
- She reaches out to the poor and needy...is others focused.
- She makes nice things for her household.
- She is clothed in strength and dignity and doesn't fear about the future.
- She is wise and speaks kindly.
- She does her husband good and is not idle.
- Her children and husband praise her.
- A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised
- Beauty fades.
- Her works bring her praise.

Acts 13
- The Holy Spirit told the group of believers to set apart Saul and Barnabas.
- John went with them to help.
- Bar-Jesus was a magician there and he wanted to hear the word they preached.
- Saul is now called Paul.
- Paul struck the magician blind for a time for his unbelief and the rest of the procounsel believed.
- After this John left them.
- Paul was encouraged to speak the word of God on the Sabbath in Antioch.
- Paul gives them a history review of the 450 years until they reached the promised land, how they had judges and then a king.
- Paul connected Jesus to the promises God gave through David.
- Paul tells them how the Jews fulfilled the OT by crucifying Jesus and the He raised from the dead.
- The group asked Paul to preach again during the next Sabbath and many believed.
- The Jews tried to stir up the crowd but when Paul quoted a verse that God wanted to give life to the Gentiles the people erupted with rejoicing.
- Eventually the Jews stirred up a high ranking woman who kicked them out of town.
- They left rejoicing at what had happened in Antioch.

2 Thessalonians 3
- Paul asks them to pray for Paul's ministry and for them to continue following the gospel truths
- Paul commands them to stay away from idle men.
- If people don't work they shouldn't eat.
- They should do their work quietly and earn a living.
- Do not grow weary in doing good
- Do not get near someone who is not following Paul's instructions.
- Love him as a brother and try to help him see his errors.
- Paul wrote this letter to them himself. No scribe was needed.

leviticus 14 - proverbs 30 – acts 12 – 2 thessalonians 2

Leviticus 14
- Priest comes out to leprous person. If they are deemed clean they must bring two birds. One bird is killed and one bird is bathed in the blood of the first bird and it is let go.
- Then the leper shall shave off all of his hair, and then bring a sin offering and grain offering.
- After 8 days the priest shall kill one of the rams as a guilt and wave offering.
- Why does the priest put blood on his right ear lobe, thumb and toe?
- The priest puts some oil on the right earlobe, thumb and big toe of the cleansed leper.
- If the man is poor he may bring one lamb and 2 doves.
- What would be a leprosy in your house? Red or green mold?
- If the house gets worse in 7 days then all infected stones must be throw away outside the city.
- If it still comes back the house shall be destroyed.
- If it stays clean then two doves shall be sacrificed for the house and it shall be deemed clean.

Proverbs 30
- Written by Agur son of Jakeh the oracle
- Why put someone else's proverbs in with King Solomon's?
- A man cries out I am worn out and stupid (because he lacks knowledge of God)
- It's interesting to see that Agur mentions God having a Son.
- God's word always proves true and we can not add to it.
- Agur makes 2 requests of God
1) remove liars from him
2) give him neither wealth nor poverty
- wealth/being full Agur may deny his needs for God.
- poverty may lead him to steal and curse God's name.
- Do not look upon yourself to highly.
- 4 things are never satisfied
1) death
2) Barren womb
3) Land for Water
4) Fire
- 4 things Agur does not understand
1) Eagle in sky
2) Serpent movement
3) Ship on the sea
4) Man with a virgin
- Why mention the adulterous in the middle of these 4 part lists?

- The fool should put his hand over his mouth
- Pressing anger leads to strife.

Acts 12
- Herod killed James the brother of John
- Then Herod arrested Peter with the Jews approval.
- 4 squads of soldiers were put in place to guard his prison cell.
- People prayed for his release.
- An angel came to Peter while he was being guarded and in chains
- Peter dressed and followed the angel out. He thought the whole thing was a vision.
- The gate opened by itself for them.
- Peter went to Mary, John's (Mark) mother's house.
- She was so unexcited she didn't open the gate but ran to tell the others.
- They thought she was crazy.
- Why wouldn't they want to go talk to Peter's angel?
- He told the other James and fellow believers what had happened and went to another place.
- Herod was so mad that Peter had escaped that he had the soldiers guarding him put to death.
- Herod was angry with people of Tyre and Sidon and they asked to make peace with him.
- The people started shouting that Herod was a god not a man and in that very moment God struck him dead.
The believers continued to increased.
- Saul, Barnabas, and John(Mark) returned from Jerusalem.

2 Thessalonians 2
- Paul told them not to be shaken in their faith when they gather together
- Paul also warned them about fake letters they may receive claiming to be from "Paul".
- Paul reminded them of warning signs of Christ's return, such as one claiming to be God will sit on the throne.
- The call him the "lawless one" who will come and do these things.
- Paul says the Jesus will return and kill this lawless one
- The lawless one will be sent by Satan and will do false wonders.
- How much and what kind of powers does Satan have?
- Those who don't believe the Truth will be condemned.
- Paul says he always remembers the first fruits of when they first believed and were sanctified by the Spirit.
- Why does Paul refer to what he taught them as "traditions" when Paul always boasts that faith is NOT by works?
- We have eternal hope and good comfort through our faith.
- Paul tells them to find comfort in this and to establish themselves in every good work and word.

leviticus 13 - proverbs 29 – acts 11 – 2 thessalonians 1

Leviticus 13
- Leprosy Laws - if there is an infection of the skin and the hair turns white, that person is unclean.
- If the hair is NOT white that person is isolated for 7 days followed by another 7 days. If it starts to heal the person is pronounced clean.
- If the rash spereads he is deemed unclean and leperous.
- Raw flesh = unclean, but once it turns white that person is deemed clean again.
- A boil person is locked up 7 days and is deemed clean unless the hair tunrs white.
- Same is true of a burn.
- Yellow hair on the head or beard will be deemed unclean.
- The person will shave himself except for the infected area.
- He is locked up for 7 days to see if it turns yellow and/or spreads. If it does the person is pronounced unclean.
- White spots, leukodermia, = clean.
- Balding = clean, but balding with a rash = unclean
- A Leper shall wear torn clothes, let his hair grow long, and yell unclean unclean wherever he goes. He shall also live alone outside of the camp.
- What does he do if he has a family?
- If a garment turns green it is leperous, the garment is locked up for 7 days and then reexamined.
- If it is unclean it is bruned with fire.
- It shall be washed and if the leprousy disappears or fades it shall be deemed clean, but if it stays the same it shall be burned with fire.

Proverbs 29
- If you don't listen to reproof ruin will come to you.
- A righteous man can sing and rejoice, but a wicked man gets caught in his transgressions.
- A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man holds it back.
- Discipline = wisdom
- Prophecy encourages the hearts of the people.
- Pride brings a man low but humility will be honored.
- Fearing man is like a snare. Trusting in the Lord = safety.
- Justice comes from the Lord not from the ruler himself.
- Righteousness and wickedness oppose one another.

Acts 11
- Peter was critisised for going to Gentiles and preaching the gospel until he explained to them the vision God had shown him.
- Peter explains that he went because he remembered that God was baptizing with the Spirit and if God was choosing to save the Gnetiles who was he to stand in God's way.
- The believers then saw that God wanted to save Jew and Gentile alike.
- Some believers went to Antioch and converted many Jews, but they didn't preach to the Gentiles.
- Barnabas was sent to Antioch.
- Saul went with Barnabas to Antioch for a year.
- The Antioch believers were the first to be called "Christians"
- Agabus fortold the droughts that would take place in the days of Claudius.
- The believers sent relief to believers in Judea durinf that time.

2 Thessalonians 1
- Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy are writing this letter.
- Paul says they pray for them because of their constantly growing love for one another.
- Paul says he boasts about the way they endure trials to other churches. The Thessalonains are a model church.
- What does it mean to "afflict those who afflict you"?
- Christ and his angels will eventually bring vengence on those unbelievers who afflict them.
- Those people will be away from God's glory for all eternity. This is the WORST punishment a person can endure!!!
- Paul prays that they will continue to live a life worthy of their calling as Christians.
- This will bring glory to Christ's name

leviticus 12 - proverbs 28 – acts 10 – 1 thessalonians 5

Leviticus 12
- A woman is unclean for 7 days after she bears a male child.
- The baby boy shall be circumsized on the 8th day after birth.
- Is the woman to be purified for 7 days plus 33 days?
- That would be 40 days total which is a reoccurring biblical number.
- If she bears a girl she shall be unclean for 2 weeks and have to continue be purified for 66 additional days which adding together equal 80.
- Why is a woman unclean twice as long if she bears a girl?
- When the mother is done being cleansed she must bring a lamb for a burnt offering and a pigeon for a sin offering to make atonement for herself.
- If a lamb and a pigeon are too pricey, she can bring two young pigeons.

Proverbs 28
- A ruler with understanding helps add stability to an area.
- If you live against the law you praise the wicked, but if you live by it strive against the wicked.
- Walking with integrity is better than riches.
- Prayers are an abomination for those who turn away from the Law.
- Don't hide trangression but humbly confess them and you will prosper.
- Following worthless pursuits leads to poverty.
- A rebuke is better than flattery.
- Trusting in my own mind is a foolish. I should trust in God.
- Twice it says that the righteous hide from a wicked ruler.

Acts 10
- There was a God fearing centurion named Cornelius in Caesarea.
- An angel appeared to him in the 9th hour of the day.
- Cornelius was terrified by the angel.
- The angel told him to send for Simon Peter who was in Joppa.
- He sent two servants and a loyal soldier.
- Meanwhile Peter went up to pray at the 6th hour.
- Peter was hungry and had a vision of a large sheet being put down before him. A voice told Peter to rise and eat.
- Peter refused to eat what was common and unclean.
-The voice told him not to refuse what God had made.
- Peter refused 3 times until the sheet was taken up from him.
- Peter was "inwardly perplexed" when Cornelius' men arrived.
- The Spirit told Peter to go with the men to see Cornelius, so he did.
- Why would Cornelius worship Peter?
- Peter realized that God was telling him not to hold fast to the old Jewish law about refusing to communicate with "unclean" (unJewish) people.
- How was Cornelius a God fearing man without knowing the gospel?
- Peter has a major paradigm shift and realizes that God will accept anyone who will follow Him.
- Peter boldly proclaimed the gospel to them and showed them how the prophets pointed to Jesus and that fact that he would take away the sins through His holy name.
- While Peter was talking the Holy Spirit was poured out to these Gentiles.
- Peter baptized these new believers and stayed for many more days with them.

1 Thessalonians 5
- Paul reminds the people that the Lord will come back "like a theif in the night".
- Paul encourages them to be ready and "awake" turning from darkness.
- Paul tells them to put on the breastplate of love and faith and the helmet of hope of salvation to fight the darkness in this world.
- Paul reminds them that they are no longer under God's wrath so they should be building one another up as they have been doing.
- Paul encourages the Thessalonians to respect and encourage their spiritual leaders and to be at peace with fellow believers.
- Paul tells them to spur on the idle(undisciplined) and encourage those who are struggling, and be patient with everyone.
- Don't repay evil with evil but strive to always do good.
- Rejoice always
- Pray continually
- Give thanks in all situations
- Do nothing to quench the spirit.
- Test everything and hold onto what is good.
- Paul asks God to continue to purify them.
- Why does Paul give them an oath to share this leeter with all believers?
- There aren't any specific Thessalonian names mentioned in this letter. Maybe this is because Paul intended for this letter to be read to many churches.

leviticus 11 - proverbs 27 – acts 9 – 1 thessalonians 4

Leviticus 11
- If God told Moses and the Jews which animals were unclean, how did Noah know which animals were clean to bring 7 pairs of?
- Clean - Whatever parts the hoof and is cloven-footed and chews the cud, among the animals, you may eat. Anything with fins and scales in the water, crickets, locusts, grasshoppers
- Unclean - Camel, Rock badger, the hare, and the pig, swarming things in the water,the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture, the kite, the falcon of any kind, every raven of any kind, the ostrich, the nighthawk, the sea gull, the hawk of any kind, the little owl, the cormorant, the short-eared owl, the barn owl, the tawny owl, the carrion vulture, the stork, the heron of any kind, the hoopoe, and the bat, insects, the mole rat, the mouse, the great lizard of any kind, 30 the gecko, the monitor lizard, the lizard, the sand lizard, and the chameleon, Whatever goes on its belly, and whatever goes on all fours, or whatever has many feet, any swarming thing that swarms on the ground.
- The people couldn't even touch these animals (pigs or others?)
- Why was ostrich forbidden?
- Why does it say insects have 4 feet?
- Is it wrong to touch a living camel? Does that make you unclean?
- Unclean animals in your house that touch food or pots, those things it touches are unclean.
- Water and planting seeds touched by an unclean animal are still clean, but if you touch them you are unclean.
- God calls the people to be holy because He Himself is holy.

Proverbs 27
- Do not boast about tomorrow when you don't know the future.
- Let someone else praise you, not yourself.
- Jealousy is worse than wrath or anger.
- An open rebuke is better than hidden love.
- The importance of true friends is listed thrice.
- Have good relationships with your neighbors.
- The wise do not carry on into danger.
- Why is loudly praising your neighbor bringing cursing?
- A quarrelsome wife adds difficulty (I'd say the same about a quarrelsome husband)
- People sharpen (strengthen) each other.
- The heart of a man reflects a man.
- A man's eyes are never satisfied (Is this talking about lust?)
- A man is tested by how people talk about him.
- Know the condition of those around you (your flock)
- Your flocks will supply you in tough times

Acts 9
- This section is about Saul's conversion to Paul and how Paul is healed.
(I had taken notes and posted this once, but for some reason this portion was not saved)

1 Thessalonians 4
- Paul urges the Thessalonians to continue growing in godliness as they've been doing.
- Sanctification = fleeing sexual immorality, controling your body, avoiding wronging your brother
- Paul lists ways to control your body.
- God has called us to holiness
- Any man who goes against these 3 things goes against God not man.
- The people in Macedonia are aware of their love for others.
- Paul urges them to live quietly and manage own affairs so that their a good example to outsiders.
- Paul turns his attention to those who have died.
- How can God bring those who have already died to Himself?
- The dead will be first to enter heaven.
- Paul encourages them to join together and know that they will be with their loved ones who have already passed away in heaven.

leviticus 10 - proverbs 26 – acts 8 – 1 thessalonians 3

Leviticus 10
- Nadab and Abihu offered unauthorized fire to the Lord.
- The fire came out from the alter and killed Aaron's sons.
- Moses told Aaron that the Lord will be glorified, so Aaron held his peace.
- Why didn't God kill Aaron when he had made the golden calf?
- How would Aaron and Moses' sons going outside and morning the loss of the 2 men bring God's wrath on the whole congregation?
- Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel (Aaron's uncle) took the bodies outside the camp.
- Eleazar and Ithimar were Aaron's remaining sons
- Aaron wasn't supposed to consume any alcohol as a witness of what was clean and holy.
- aaron and his sons, and his daughters were to eat the grain and wave offerings.
- What did Aaron's wife eat?
- Why was Moses so upset with Aaron's sons?
- Where was the goat sin offering supposed to be eaten?
- What did Aaron mean that this had happened to him?
- What made Moses approve of what they had done all of a sudden?

Proverbs 26
- Do curses work if the timing is right? Is it okay to curse someone?
- A rod makes fools go the right way.
- Do not answer or acknowledge a fool or he will feel wise.
- A fool returns to his folly like a dog returns to its vomit.
- Even a wise man should not think or boast that he is wise. That is worse than being a fool.
- v.1 -12 are all about turning away from fools.
- v.13 - 16 are all about the sluggard
- Why is it bad for the sluggard to say there is a lion in the streets? What should he do?
- You shouldn't meddle in a quarrel not your own.
- Do not do bad things and say you were only joking.
- Quarreling ceases when whispering stops.
- Quarreling = strife
- What does it mean the whisperings go down to your inner parts? Is this good or bad?
- Hate comes from harboring deceit in your heart.
- Is there anywhere else that talks about the "seven abominations"?
- Flattery works to ruin others.

Acts 9
- Saul was seeking evil against the Christians and went to the high priests for letters which would allow him to bring back as prisoners anyone who preached "The Way"
- Saul was engulfed in a bright light on his way to Damascus and Jesus asked him why he was persecuting Him.
- Saul's men heard the voice but saw no one.
- Saul was struck blind.
- Jesus told him to enter the city.
- Saul was blind and didn't eat or drink for 3 days.
- Ananias was a disciple living in Damascus.
- Jesus told Ananias that Saul was His chosen instrument to bring the Gospel to the Gentiles and Jews.
- Ananias was scared of Saul because all Christians had heard about what he was doing to them in Jerusalem.
- When Ananias touched Saul's eyes, scales fell from them and his sight was restored and Saul was baptized.
- Saul stayed with the disciples for awhile and then many were shocked when Saul was preaching the Way and confounding the Jews with the very message that Saul himself had set out to stop.
- The Jews plotted to kill Saul, but the disciples let him down in a basket over the wall at night.
- Saul went to the Disciples but they were scared of him until Barnabas told them of all that had happened to Saul and how he was preaching The Way.
- They sent Saul to Tarsus.
- Judea, Galilea, and Samaria were thriving in The Way.
- Peter heal Aeneas and all the people in Lydda and Sharon believed in Jesus.
- Tabitha, a true servant of good deeds and charity died, but Peter went and told her to rise. She did.
- Many in Joppa believed because of this miracle.
- Does faith where miracles happen count as much as faith as faith alone?

1 Thessalonians 3
- Paul sent Timothy to see if they had been tempted away from the faith as they feared may have happened.
- Timothy brought back and encouraging report about the Thessalonians.
- Their faith comforted Paul and the others being persecuted.
- Paul joyfully wants to return to them and help them whereever their faith may be lacking.
- Paul prays that their love for others will continue to grow and that God will establish them blameless in holiness.

- Why did Hezekiah's men copy these Proverbs?
- God conceals thing but kings try to figure things out.
- Do not exalt yourself, but let others praise you.
- Try to solve problems with the person instead of going to court.
- A ruler/boss is persuaded by patience.
- Do not eat too much and get sick
- Don't over visit your neighbor or he may hate you
- Is singing when you're sad good or not?
- How is heaping burning coals on your neighbor's head kind like feeding him?
- It is not good to seek you own glory.
- A man without self control is not a good thing.

Acts 7
- Stephen spoke to the crowd.
- Stephen started by retelling the promises God made to Abraham and giving him a son and giving his people land after 400 years of exile.
- Stephen then turns their attention to Jacob and the story of Joseph who was lifted up by Pharaoh in Egypt.
- The new Pharaoh didn't know Joseph and oppressed the Israelites until Moses birth.
- At 40 years of age Moses killed and Egyptian who was mistreating a Jewish slave. He fled to Midian.
- Moses stayed in Midian another 40 years until an angel spoke to him from the burning bush.
- Stephen reminds them of the miracles which took place as they left Egypt and of how they turned to worshiping other gods like the golden calf.
- Then Joshua brought them into the land and King David was established.
- Then Solomon built the temple of the Lord
- The prophets said that God does not only dwell in the temple .
- Stephen rebukes them for being stiff necked and resisting the Holy Spirit.
- He said that they had killed all of the prophets of God throughout history.
- Stephen looked into heaven and said he saw the Son of God seated at His right hand, and they rushed upon him.
- They stoned Stephen to death, but as he was dying he asked God not to hold this sin against them.
- Saul (later Paul) was there watching this take place.
- Stephen was the first new Christian killed for his faith.

1 Thessalonians 2
- Paul says he was mistreated in Philippi when he visited.
- Why doesn't Paul mention this in Philippians?
- Paul says he didn't make demands of them but treated them gently like his own children.
- Paul did not burden them with anything but taught them to walk in a manner worthy of their calling by God.
- Paul is constantly grateful for the way they received the gospel.
- Why does Paul speak so harshly against the Jews instead of praying for their salvation?
- What does Paul mean when he says God's wrath has come upon them at last?
- Paul says that Satan hindered him from returning to Thessalonica.
- Paul call the Thessalonians his glory and joy.

Leviticus 8 - proverbs 24 – acts 6 – 1 thessalonians 1

Leviticus 8
- Moses consecrated Aron and his sons with on bull, two rams and a basket of unleaven bread.
- How did Moses put Urim and the Thummim in the breastplate with Aaron? (This is oddly worded)
- Moses put the robes, breastplate, bands, and crowns on them (Weren't they already wearing these things in the tent of meeting?
- Moses spinkled the annointing oil on the alter 7 times, and he also sprinkled it on the utensils, and Aaron.
- The "he" in verse 15, 19, 23 are not specific. It could be Moses or Aaron.
- Moses put some of the bull's blood on the horns of the alter with his finger before pouring out the rest at the base and burning the fat. This was a sin offering.
- The skin, flesh, and dung they burnt outside the camp.
- Why didn't Aaron and his sons keep a portion of the bull to eat?
- They killed the ram and burnt its head and fat, washed it then burnt the whole thing as a burnt offering.
- The 2nd ram was the Ram of Ordination.
- Why did they put some of ram's blood on Aaron's right toe,finger, and ear lobe?
- They did the same thing with Aaron's sons.
- Aaron and his sons collected the fat, liver, kidneys, and right thigh along with one loaf of bread, one unleavened loaf, and a wafer and waved it as a wave offering before burning it to the Lord.
- Moses waved the breast as wave offering for himself.
- Wasn't this portion of the offering for the priests?
- Moses annoited Aaron with oil.
- Aaron and his sons were to boil and eat this portion of the ram and bread.
- They weren't allowed to leave the tent of meeting for 7 days and 7 nights until everything was consecrated.

Proverbs 24
- Don't desire to hang out with sinners
- A house is build with wisdom not folly.
- Knowledge enhances strength.
- You should wage war with the help of others.
- If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.
- What if you do not know how to overcome adversity in a situation?
- The Lord will reward you for the work you have done.
- Wisdom is sweet to the soul.
- the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity
- Do not rejoice when an enemy falls.
- Aren't there many times when King David does this in battle and in the Psalms?
- Fear the Lord and the king
- How should you approach a king or boss who doesn't align with God's will?
- Those who rebuke the wicked will get blessing
- Prepare for the work you have to accomplish and build a house.
- Do not seek revenge against youyr neighbor.
- Laziness will bring a person to poverty and ruin.

Acts 6
- The Hellinists, Greek speaking Jews, said the poor were not being served.
- The 12 called all of the disciples together.
- The 12 didn't want to stop preaching to serve tables, so they appointed 7 godly men to do this task.
- They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus.
- They laid their hands on them and prayed.
- Stephen was doing many signs and wonders and many argued with him.
- Men lied about what Stephen was saying, saying he was blaspheming the name of God and Moses. (This breaks proverbs 24 about lying about your neighbor)
- Stephen was preaching what Jesus had said about tearing down the temple and altering Laws of Moses.
- But while they were debating about Stephen, his face shone like an angel.

1 Thessalonians 1
- Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy wrote this book to them.
- Why is this greeting so short?
- Paul rejoices, remembers, and prays for them constantly.
- He commends them for their faith, hope, and love in Christ.
- The Holy Spirit was at work in them when they heard the gospel.
- They wanted to be like Paul and know the Lord when he was with them.
- The Thessalonians became a godly example to the cities around them.
- They had been worshipping idols before turning to worship the one true God.
- They were eager to wait on Jesus who saved them from the wrath of God.

Leviticus 7 - proverbs 23 – acts 5 – philippians 5

Leviticus 7
- GUILT OFFERINGS:
- Its blood is throw against the alter.
- The fat, kidneys, and liver are burned.
- The rest is for the priests to eat and he may use its skin.
- The grain offerings with and without oil shall be shared among the priests.
- PEACE OFFERINGS:
- If it celebrates a thanksgiving it shall be sacrificed with unleavened bread.
- The priests have to eat the peace offering that day or the second day. The leftovers shall be burned up on the 3rd day. Whoever eats it on the 3rd day is guilty of sin.
- The peace offering is also called a freewill (vow) offering
- If meat touches something unclean or if the person is unclean they shouldn't eat the sacrificed meat.
- If anyone touches any unclean animal or person and then eats sacrificed meat they should be cut off from their people.
- Why weren't the people supposed to eat the fat of an animal?
- How would the people "eat the blood" of an animal? What does this mean?
- WAVE OFFERING:
- a peace offering the breast of meat that is waved.
- Aaron gets the breast
- Right thigh is a contribution to the priests.
- God has ordained that the people give part of what they have to Him and to Aaron's sons.
- Where does it talk about the Ordination Offering?

Proverbs 23
- When eating with a leader be careful how you act.
- Do not covet another's wealth for it will be short lived even if you get it.
- Talking wisdom to a fool is wasting your words.
- Heart should be meditating on Word of God
- Disciplining your child leads to wisdom and life.
- Do not envy sinners but continue in fear of the Lord.
- Drunkard and glutton will come to ruin.
- Listen to your parents and don't despise them.
- How can Solomon tell his son to follow his ways and avoid the adulterous when he had a thousand wives?
- Drunkeness leads to strife, woe, and complaining
- Drunkeness leads to ruin.

Acts 5
- Ananias, with his wife Sapphira sold land and kept part of it for themselves.
- How did they lie when they simply brought the offering?
- How did Satan "trump" the Holy Spirit and was Ananias saved?
- If the money was at Ananias' disposal why was he killed for not giving all of it?
- Ananias died once he heard this rebuke.
- 3 hours later his wife came in and lied about how much the land was sold for and she too died immediatately.
- The people were fearful because of this.
- There were many miracles done at Solomon's Portico.
- People layed their sick in the street and when Peter's shadow touched them they were healed.
- The Sadduccees were jealous and arrested the apostles.
- An angel brought them out of the prison during the night and told them to preach boldly in the temple.
- The prison was locked, guards were in place but the priests didn't find the apostles.
- The captain of the counsel went to the temple and had them come beofre him, not by force because he feared the people uprising.
- The priest charged them with stirring up the people, but they said they must listen to God not men.
- Peter stated the gospel truth about Jesus and the Holy Spirit to the Sadduccees.
- They were angry, but Gamaliel wisely put the apostles outside and reminded the counsel of two recent uprising that had failed in Jerusalem. He also wisely stated to be careful what they did to the apostles for if their plan was their own it would fail but if it was from God it could not be stopped.
- Gamliel even said that the counsel could be found opposing God.
- Why did the counsel still beat them before sending them out?
- The apostles' reaction was to rejoice because they were suffering for the Gospel.

If my calculations are correct my blog is 4 days behind where I should be, not because I haven't been reading, but there have been several days where it takes longer than I have in the morning or the internet is not work, and yeah there were two days where I needed a little more sleep because Callan woke up due to his teething.
