leviticus 24 - Ecclesiastes 9 – acts 22 – 2 Timothy 3

Leviticus 24
- Aaron was to make sure the golden lamps were always burning with pure olive oil
- Each Sabbath day Aaron was to put 12 loaves of bread in two piles in the temple and put frankensence on them as a food offering to the Lord.
- There was a half Jewish/ half Egyptian boy who got into a fight and cursed using "the Name" in vane
- They put him in jail until God told them what to do
- God said he should be stoned as should any one else, native or sojourner
- Anyone who takes a human life shall be put to death
- What did you have to do if you accidentally killed someone's animal?
- Eye for an eye tooth for a tooth.
- Why did they wait to stone him until after gave the eye for an eye command which talked about murder not blasphemy?

Ecclesiastes 9
- Solomon struggles with the fact that the same end comes to the wicked and the just.
(He is forgetting about going to heaven after death verses hell)
- What does Solomon mean that God has already approved of what you do?
- Solomon tells us to enjoy life with our wife and our work because they won't be with us in Sheol.
- Wisdom is better than weapons
- Solomon reflects on a poor man from a little city who saved the city from a might army. This man was quickly forgotten but his example of the power of wisdom stuck with Solomon.
- One sinner can destroy much good.

Acts 22
- Paul begins addressing the mob who just stoned him in Hebrew.
- Paul reminds them of his past persecuting the Way
- Paul reminds them how Jesus blinded him on the road to Damascus and Ananias restored his sight and told him to go be baptized and wash away his sins.
- Paul said that after his conversion God told him to go to the Gentiles because the Jews wouldn't accept what paul would say to them.
- What did Paul mean that he bought his citizenship for a large sum and was born into it as well?
- They tribune was going to flog Paul until he asked if it was lawful to flog an uncondemned Roman citizen.
- The next day the Council sent for Paul to find out the real reason the Jews were so mad at him.

2 Timothy 3
- Paul lists many of the sins which will come out in the last days some of which include lovers of self, unholy, ungrateful, lovers of pleasure and not of God, having the appearance of godliness but denying its power.
- There are those who capture the weak and will never find the Truth themselves.
- Paul makes an OT comparision with "Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith"
- Paul remind Timothy of all the trials he himself had endured which God had protected him in amny of which Timothy witnessed.
- Godly people will be persecutued and the wicked will go from bad to worse.
- Paul points Timothy back to the Truth of God's Word and reminds Him also that all scripture is God breathed.
- God's word is to be used for "teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, and equipping others for every good work"
