Revelations 14
- On Mount Zion the Lamb stood with the 144,000 who had God's name written on their foreheads.
- John heard a voice like thunder, a river, and a harpist.
- The 144,000 were singing a new song before the throne, the 4 creatures and the elders.
- No one but the 144,000 could learn this new song.
- The 144,000 were blameless, virgins, followed the Lamb everywhere and were redeemed from mankind as the first fruits.
- John saw another angel proclaiming an eternal gospel saying, "Fear God because his judgment has come so He should be worshipped.
- A second angel said fallen is Babylon who has made other nations commit sexual immorality.
- A third angel said that anyone who follows the beast will face God's wrath.
- His wrath will be in a cup of His anger and those people will be tormented with fire in the presence of the holy angels and the Lamb.
- Does the phrase "holy angels" mean anything significant?
- The smoke of their torment will go on forever.
- The saints should press on in endurance.
- A voice from heaven told John to write, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”
- How will these maurters be more blessed than previous ones?
- John saw a white cloud with the son of man with a golden crown and sickle.
- Another angel came out of the temple telling the one on the cloud to reap a harvest.
- The one on the cloud swung his sickle and reaped a harvest from earth.
- Another angel came out of the temple. He also had a sharp sickle.
- Another angel came out who had authority over fire and spoke to the sickle angel.
- He told the first to use sickle to gather ripe grapes from the earth.
- What did each sickle weilding angel reap exactly?
- The second angel gathered the grapes and put them in the "wine press of God's wrath."
- The blood flowed from the wine press and flowed as high as a horse's bridle (4-5 feet?)
- It flowed for 1,600 stadia (184 miles)
Revelations 15
- Another sign in heaven was the 7 angels who had the 7 plagues.
- This was the last of God's wrath.
- John saw a "sea of glass mixed with fire"
- John saw those who had conquered the beast standing beside the glass lake holding harps.
- How/when was the beast defeated?
- The were singing the song of Moses.
- Was this a song about Moses in that day or a song written by Moses when he was alive?
- God's deed are great and amazing and just and true.
- Who won't fear God and give Him glory.
- All nations will worship Him when His righteous acts have been revealed.
- The sanctuary of the tent (tabernacle) of witness was opened.
- The seven angels with 7 plagues came out of there.
- The were clothed in pure, white linen with golden sashes.
- One of the 4 creatures gave the angels the 7 bowls of God's wrath.
- The sanctuary was filled with smoke from God's glory and power.
- No one could enter the sanctuary until the 7 plagues were finished.
Revelations 16
- A loud voice told the 7 angels to pour out their bowls.
1) First Plague - harmful sores on people who worshiped the beast and had his mark.
2) Second Plague - the sea turned to blood and everything in it died.
3) Third Plague - turned the rivers into blood and said, "Just is God who brought these judgments , for God has given them blood to drink for the saints' blood they shed.
- The altar spoke reiterated that God's judgments are "true and just".
4) Fourth Plague - the sun was allowed to scorch people, but the people refused to turn to God and cursed Him instead.
5) Fifth Plague - turned Beast's throne into darkness, but people gnawed their tongues and cursed God for their sores.
6) Sixth Plague - The Euphrates dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east.
- Out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet came 3 unclean spirits like frogs
- They are demonic spirits gathering kings to battle against the Lord.
- This quote seems to echo what Jesus said about the end coming like a thief in the night.
- They assembled their army at a place in Hebrew is called Armageddon.
7) Seventh Plague - threw his bowl into the air and a voice said, "It is done!"
- instantly there was thunder, lightning, and earthquakes.
- the earthquake was much bigger than anything since man had been on earth.
- The great city was spilt in 3 and the cities of nations fell.
- God remember Babylon and made her drink the cup of His wrath.
- Every island and mountain fled and were no more.
- 100 pound hail stones fell to earth.
- The people still responded by cursing God.
